Anyone out there have any silver interior pics or info? I'm doing a total interior restoration on my '81 and have found that some parts are dyed grey instead of silver or are they just faded?

AND..

I got new visors and found that no one sells a repro silver vanity mirror. Am I to understand some interiors got a color matched mirror and the rest got black??

Any info would be appreciated.

Thanks

Here are some photo's of the new carpet set I put in Rare, New Silver Carpet

I can get a couple photo's of the rest of the interior, seats, sunvisors etc. tomorrow and post them ;)

Looks great!

Great pics and info! Thanks much.

Still kinda curious about the vanity mirror color deal and I noticed that the ebrake pad is more of a grey color. any other parts grey?

Thanks again Rare.

Silver Interior Pics

Hey Flying Ace,

I've got a black '81 with silver leather. The arm rests and break cover were originally grey. I replaced the break cover with a silver one because it was cracked. Take a look at my website to see some interior shots. Enjoy!

That is a problem with some suppliers. One tells them "Silver Interior", and they paint the part silver. They have limitted knowledge on the combination of interior colors. I received a silver arm rest and silver brake assy cover. Is the correct name for the correct color, grey? There are different "grey" or "Gray" tones.

GerryLP,

That's what I'm trying to determine, what was gray from the factory on a silver interior??? The assembly manual wasn't much help and my original interior was so bad, I couldn't tell if the peice was faded or not.

I ordered new armrests and they came silver! Are they supposed to be?

I was hoping someone out there has a good condition silver interior and could clue me in.

Thanks for your reply.

Silver Interior

Ace!

I have wondered exactly the same thing you are asking. Here's what I can tell you from my experience with a low milage 81 with silver interior.

1. The armrests are gray
2. The E-brake cover is gray
3. The rear compartment frames are gray

I have the car in storage but will see it in a day or two as Funfest approaches. If I notice any other gray parts I will post the info here

Platato,

Great! Good info. Any more would be appreciated.

Thanks.

OK, some input from a 78 Pace Car owner. I would ASSUME that the silver interiors are the same on 78,81 and 82 but not sure. Grey items on my original Pace Car: arm rests, brake cover, seatbelt buckle covers(near the console), seat hinge covers and the rubber wear inserts in the drivers side carpet. Seems like all the rubber items are grey. Rear compartment frames are silver on mine. Vanity mirror is black.

The "81" Silver is a unique year specific color. If the car was repaired by someone who didn't have any knowledge they may have used parts for a different year, which would explain the grey parts. You can get most parts from the major suppliers like Corvette America (800) 458-3475, Corvette Central (800) 345-4122, although I found the best prices for most items on my restore at Wilcox (800) 588-3883. You can also buy the "81" silver paint to spray the interior plastic trim parts. Made mine look good as new.

Yes, I now see where each year silver had its own code, slightly different shade. But could there still be some gray items? Another place to confirm might be the 81 assembly manual. I know that my 78 manual lists each of the items of either interior color of the silver/gray. (also the white or gray of the oyster as another examble) ALL the other colors are listed as one color; black, red, blue, etc. Maybe someone with an 81 book could take a look. The info is near the back in the 78 manual. Just curious, now.
