Question: Siphoning Hose vs. Petcock?

YO, the last time I attempted to use the radiator petcock, that brittle
piece of plastic crap broke and I ended up releasing the coolant from
the bottom hose. Question: would I be able to "siphon" enough coolant
from the top of the radiator in order to change the thermostat. I'm
trying to avoid messing with the petcock or bottom hose. Thanks

If you broke the drain petcock, when's the last time you changed your coolant?

Dealership just replaced my water pump 3 to 4 weeks ago.

Why wasn't it changed when the water pump was changed?Seems kinda crazy to me,a top quality stat isn't but about $15.00 and no extra labor.

As far as getting the pit cock loose without braking it,I have a long pair of needle nosed pliers I use,I've not killed one yet that wasn't already broken!

If you don't mind the mess you can remove the small hose that goes into the throttle body above the t stat. That will drain the intake manifold and some of the water above the t stat. But you will still get water from the t stat hose when you remove it. Removing any of the hoses on the left side to drain the engine puts water onto the opti and other electrical sensors and that isn't a good thing.
