Six speed trans- 96 Z28

I have the chance at a 6 speed out of a 96 Z28. Will it work in the Vette and is the bolt pattern the same on the Bell H0using. It needs repair. I believe 1st and 2nd might be bad....warranty deal. Havent got all the info yet.. It it a t-56 or what?
