Well it is me again. Five day old owner of 1999 6- speed. It has 22,000 miles and I have driven it once. When coasting and I apply power there seems to be some take up slack in the drive train. Is this normal or just me?

Thanks for any replys.

I have quite a bit of lash in my Z06 drive train myself. I think some is normal. I don't know how much there has to be to become abnormal. :confused

There is slack built into the driveline. This is to reduce vibration. You could put a stiffer (or a dual disc) clutch and solid driveshaft couplers or even solid motor mounts. Just drive more aggressively so you'll never coast.
:Steer Enjoy the heck out of your Corvette!!!!

Thanks for the reply. It has been years since I have done mechanic work and the Corvette drive is definately new to me. I really enjoy driving this car. In fact as much as flying. I am glad to have a resource for my dumb questions.

Take it out for a long drive in the twisties. You will get the hang of it in no time. Make sure you have the tires inflated to 30 lbs cold. Check the oil too. Spirited driving may use up some oil, That's normal. Remember to wave to the other Corvettes.

Thanks Bluecoupe. Drove it at nite for the first time, differant! I used to be a little more aggressive in my driving but now I am kidded about driving so slow (speed limit).
I didn't realize how nice the newer Corvettes are until I got this one. Thanks for the interest.

Jim

Just knowing you could eat up just about anything else on the road feels almost as good as actually proving it. The great part about a Corvette is it looks good going slow too. I don't drive that fast anymore either but I do like to pull some Gs in the curves.

More smiles per mile than any car on the road.
