My left headlight is very slow to roll open. Verrrryy slow. The right is just fine. What's interesting is that when I close them, they close at exactly the same speed (pretty quickly). I am guessing the motor is fine but think I want to fix this before I burn it up. Looking to pick some brains here. Anyone have this and deal with it? Where should I start looking?

You know when I purchased my 66 I had problems with the motor being in "sinc" I purchased 2 date coded replacement motor from paragon reproductions. And they have been perfect since. My first attempt to correct the problem ,I did remove them and clean and replace that nasty old grease but I guess the damage was allready done and the motor needed to be replaced.I also replaced my switch in the car at the same time because mine was a little funny.

This was way back in 2000, the most important thing I remeber about this project was that it pays to take the time and remove you hood,it give you plenty of room to work

Thanks guys. Exactly what I am looking for. That web page is very cool. Using the page and guidance to take my time and I might even deal with this.

Finally got to address the slow headlight. Took the whole thing out, rebuilt the bearings, put all the bolts back in (found only one was on the motor side) and then I rebuilt the motor itself using the instructions Craig provided. It works perfectly. Craig I can't thank you enough. Certain that you saved me $450 for a new motor.
