Hello everybody,

Almost finished my body off (81 Corvette) but of course even now some things surface. I took everything out of the doors, windows, motors, wiring etc etc. I visually checked and cleaned the power window motors, cleaned and greased the window guides, new rubber things, then put everything back into the doors. Adjusted the windows to fit the weatherstrips so everything so far so good.

Btw, the compleet wiringharness from the vette was out off the car and checked.

Now the right windows rolls up and down very far but the driversside (left) windows is going much slower, w/o the engine running even struggleing to go up and down.

So my question, is this a power window motor problem or shoot I point at the switch? Of course I could reroute power from the right motor to the left motor and see if this fixes the problem but asking is faster :D

Greetings Peter

Peter..,

Had a similar problem with mine last year. One was blazing fast while the other was somewhat normal (slow compared to the other). Of course the fast one had broken or missing rollers so, with no restriction, it just flew. Once I cleaned, greased, replace rollers and adjusted the whole thing, it came back to normal, although the passenger side seems slightly faster than the other.

P.S. Watch out for the anti-rattling pads. They put a lot of stress on the window.

Regards....,
Roger

Hello Roger,

That was my idea when I took it apart, but all the rollers are there and not broken. The right door was missing the spring, but even with the new spring no effect.

Hello again Peter..,

I'm assuming your doors panels are all assembled by now and it's a real PITA to take everything apart once again.
Other than ajustments, I can't think of anything else right now. I like your idea of switching power source. Maybe inversing the electrical switches in the center console would tell you something. But even that can be a real pain if your console is all assembled.
As you know, nothing is fast & easy with these cars.
Let us know of your findinds.

Regards...
Roger

My vette is going to the interiorbuilder next week for a full leather interior and "custom" center console and doorpanels so no problem, by the time everything is apart I'll see what I'm going to do. I'll keep you updated, thanks!

Greetings Peter
