I had my frt end alignment done today because the steering wheel was off and I had some drifting. All this came about after the dealer had replaced the transmission seal and the lft axle seal both were leaking. The drifting is gone but the steering wheel is off by a small amount .All the specs are within and I understand them all but the one that says Steer ahead .02*.What does this mean? The steering wheel is off to about 1 oclock. If I adjust the toe on both side accordingly(Make one longer and the other shorter the same distance) will that change anything but wheel position?

HI there,
Toe ahead means the degree that the rear wheels are off from the front wheels in relation to going straight.
But, if the steering wheel is not set straight ahead, this measurement can be off.
What I would suggest is that you check with your dealership if you can sit in the vehicle and hold the steering wheel straight, while they set the toe up.
This would be the easiest and best solution to your crooked steering wheel.

Don, if you don't mind me asking, how much was the alignment. I just recently asked for the car to be aligned and the shop said that a 4 wheel computer alignment was necessary which ended up taking 2.5 hrs at a labor rate of 89 an hour. Does that sound right or did i get taken?

C4C5 feel free to chime in as well.

Ryan. I love your closing quote! Day one of plebe year at the Academy?

Thanks, I'm assuming your a grad or have some other affiliation to know the word plebe? I still remember all of my quotes from plebe year and can recite most word for word but that actual quote I picked up during my sophmore year from a friend and it stuck with me.

Bio,I do alot of bussiness with this place that did the alignment so all I had to pay was a 25.00 tip to the alignment man but normal price there was 89.00.The best part was the print out he gave me of the before and after alignment. I think your man is alittle steep at over 200 bucks.

HI there,
It does take me about 2.5 hours to do a c5/c6 alignment.
I also set my ride height as well, because if you dont, the setting could be off when a person lowers the car.
199.95 is what our dealership charges, with a print out before and after.

I did get two print outs of alignment settings so I'm assuming that it was a before and after shot. This guy has a reputaion for being thourogh but the time surprised me, however if thats what it really took to do all 4 wheels (and it was explained to me why the two wheel alignment wasn't suficient) than I don't mind paying.
