Help! spare tire

does anyone have or know if a full size spare 255/60 x15 will fit in the tub of a 79 vette...some say yes and others no...please help..new vette owner and learning

not sure of the 255 but my 79 has 235-60-15 on a 8" rim tucked away in the tub with no problems
