Spark Plug Gap

I just want to clarify what my spark plug gap should be at? Its a L98 and all stock.Thanks guys i'm a new vette owner so i want to be sure about these things. I know this must of been asked but i want to be sure because i was reading a post from 87blackroxi and he fixed his high idle by just re-gaping the plugs. I have the same problem he had, so i hope this corrects my idle problem.

I thought that I read somewhere that said you shouldn't regap used plugs.

I think .035 not .35 you guys need to remember the 0
the .035 is right for the 90 .


regaping old plugs is ok but if they are worn you don't get the spark you would with new plugs. I have done it for yrs with no problems.

Sorry, off with my head right? :L If you need to regap them be very very careful, and just tap very very lightly with a hammer, is what I do, or you could push them down on a piece of wood.

Actually i bought all new ones, i forgot to say that. Thanks i will gap them to .035.
Thanks everyone! Hopefully new plugs will bring down the idle. If not i will have to adjust my TPS and Idle Speed.

The gap should be shown on an emission sticker under the hood. I tap them softly on a hard object, to narrow the gap and use the gapping tool to widen. Always check new plugs for proper gap.

I think it is smart to ensure that the basics, like ignition condition and vacuum leaks are checked before going right to the sensors/electronics.

Definitely check the new plug gaps. Don't ever trust that they are what the box says they are.

I made that mistake a few years ago. My father told me to never trust what the box says. So I pulled the plugs out and checked the gap. Good thing I did because they varied.

I found the emisson sticker under the hood. There is alot of useful info on that. Could of saved me from posting. But oh well now i know.

i just use the top of the plenum :gap

Lol, yeah that makes sense, move the least as possible. that is one thing I hate since I sit on the tire when I do plugs and stuff, and getting up and out is a pain.
