Anybody recommend more efficient spark plug wires for '04s
Don't they improve power?

None that I know of, if your not having any problems just leave them alone.. The stock ones work well. Now on the other hand, if your going with Headers, I would use a set of GM Racing Wires, you can get them from GM Parts Direct or your Dealer. Along with that a set of Socks..

plug wires can not "add power " all they do is carry the current to the plugs. If you wires or plug boots are cracked or brittle they should be changed , if not leave them alone.

Taylor wires.

My C5 has 82,000 miles on it and the Gas milage was starting to drop so I changed the plugs and wires last weekend, I went with MSD's and the AC Delco irredium (sp) plugs from GM

Hey BossVette, I am thinking about doing the exact same thing on my 2001 with 42,000 on it. I'm getting some ignition noise on the AM side of the radio and need to do something to improve that problem plus I figure it's about time to do the plugs. How has your C5 run since you put in the MSD wires and AC plugs? better mileage?
Save the wave! Doc

GM's current plug wires are supposed to be among the best... Spend the bucks for the Delco iridiums.............

Resistance can increase in older wires. Resistance specification is 3000 ohms per foot. I like the magnecor. I can install the standard the metal boot cap. They do not improve power unless the old wire were damage or added resistance.

As for plug, go with the Delco iridium 41-985. They have a special coating to make sure they do not seize. They are also designed to work with the shape of the combustion chamber.

GM RED Wires and Iridium plugs

My 98 had 65,000 miles so I decided to go with Delco Iridium plugs and replaced the wires with Delco ZO6 red wires. The plugs are already gapped. The wires already have both ends on them. Everything fit perfect with no problems at all. Went from 19.4MPG to 21.2MPG in town the way I drive with the AC on. The old plugs and wires looked OK but with 65,000 miles on them it was time to replace them. The car does feel more responsive with the new plugs but I don't think it is any faster then it was.Don't matter. It feels better to Me.
