Just wondering about what plugs people use, in order to get a general idea which plug seems to be the most popular. Thought about trying bosch, currently using ac rapidfire 7 in my 64 which has a 68 327-350HP. Thanks, skids.

sure someone will pipe in (SWCDuke or someone) - personally, if I wasn't chasing NCRS I would be using DENSO plugs in my 1963 Z06

If your running high compression heads which the 350 HP engine may have, do not use and extended tip spark plug like a R45S. The piston may hit the tip of the plug and close the gap. Too be absolutely safe, an R45 would be the wisest choice and cleanest running. The factory choice is a AC #44 on most Vettes however it is no longer available. But stay away from R43`s or a similar off brand substitute as they are too cold for average driving and prone to fuel fouling.

Do you know if the R45 is a hotter plug than the Rapidfire 7 that i'm using now? Plugs are tan, with deposits, probably from using sea foam every now and then, and or lead substitute. Thanks, skids.

I always used AC sparks plugs in the past (44 or 45). They were always out performing anything else on the market. However, 7 years ago, I converted my '67's ignition system to a Pertronix and I installed a set of Autolite AP 85's - platinum tipped plugs. The Corvette is reliable as any new car now and I do not touch the ignition system for at least 3 years, and then only to refresh cap, rotor & plugs. Even after 3 years of driving, they still look great. Just a thought, but that is my experience. I keep a set of new AC's for judging/shows.

I have a petronix setup also and use the Iridium plugs from Denso (very expensive $12/plug). Absolutely great, no problems whatsoever.
