Folks, in my RPO list I read "UX0", which indicates a Delco Bose six speaker system. I have a Delco Bose CD, casette and radio. I know where 4 of the speakers are located inside the car (2 inside the door sills on passanger & driver sides & 2 inside the rear compartment left & right) but I do not know where the other 2 are hidden...

Can someone tell me where the other 2 are hiding?

Cheers

I am not positive, but I think I have read that there are two speakers inside the door housings.

My 94' has only the four speakers you listed, door sills and rear hatch compartment and I looked in the "corvette black book" and it doesnt list a UXO rpo. Just has rpo U1F and its for Delco-Bose stereo with cd. Check the label on the underside of the console door lid and it has all the RPO codes for your car listed. Hope this helps but it would be a nice surprise to find a six speaker system. I like the bose system in the later ones 92-96 then the ones in the earlier ones, the one in my 89 didnt sound a fraction as good as this one does.

Think the door sill speaker housings hold a mid-range and tweeter combo in each side. That's 4 total plus the two in the rear for 6. My 92 has UX0 listed along with U1F which is the Delco-Bose Gold cassette/CD system.

If you look in the Model Center for your year and find the "UX0" option, it reads: "Dual Floor Sill & Extended Range Speaker System". My 92 build sheet shows UX0 as simply "speaker system" and doesn't specify the number of speakers.

If you're looking at the CAC RPO listings page, that description may be just a different way of describing the option. The description from the Model Center page is probably taken from the sales brochure (my brochure for my 92 talks about a 6-speaker system).

While the Black Book is pretty accurate, they may not show all of the RPO's that go into a car. GM uses RPO numbers for tons of different things. For example my 92 has RPO JL9 which is nothing more than the standard 4-wheel disc brakes with anti-lock. It's an "RPO" but it's not an option in that sense.

It's hard to say whether or not all late C4's had 6 speakers or not. It may be something that came only with the U1F Bose "Gold" option and not part of the standard UU8 radio.

I just had my 91 apart looking for the amps. In the door sills, there is a tweeter and a midrange size speaker, and then 2 more speaker in the back. I have the Bose Gold also, so I guess Chevy counts each part as a speaker.

Thanks a lot folks, so it is 2 +2 in the front and 2 in the rear. I got it.

My '89 has 2 in the back, two on the doors and two underneath the dash....
