I have an 84 coupe, not had it too long, but the man i got it from sats that the motor, trans and exhaust has only 15K miles on them. OK, not knowing what was done, where should I start if my speedometer and tach and odometer are all not working? Lights work, and all other info in the panel between them work. Gas gauge works. Please help, new to vettes, have no clue....... 001.jpg

Hey, i'm new to this forum stuff but i will let you know what happened to my corvette Speedometer and Tachometer. My lights were working for months and everything was reading fine, then suddenly i couldn't see anything and the lights still worked. I had to ship my dash off to get the LCDs replaced. I dunno if this helps, Just letting you know i had a similar problem in my 87.

Bump bump

Still looking for some answers, thanks to the one that did reply, I really hope that isn't my only option.

Speedo Problems

You will have to take apart the left side of your dash to get at the gauge cluster. Disconnect the two input connectors on the side. With a meter verify that the signals from the speed sensor and distributer are comming to the connector. If the signals are there send out the gauge cluster for repair. If not, look at the speed sensor on the transmission and wiring. Then look at the wiring from the distributer. You will need a shop/repair manual for the proper terminals on the connectors to measure. (get a shop manual on a CD from ebay for less than $10)

87 convertible with same problem

Researching the same problem with my car. I have replaced the speed sensor (transmission connection) with no change. I believe the next steps are to confirm the cable from the sensor is not broken/is functioning properly, then connections to digital dash cluster, then get digital dash cluster serviced (might suggest this anyway on your own or send out for about $350). If it is the cable, that would be great. If it is just a loose connection or solder, then the $350 is well spent and will extend the life of the digital dash cluster. If it is cable or circuitry, then same work to remove cluster but some extra effort to replace wires from sensor to cluster. Good luck.
