Okay... i changed my speedometer cables last year and now my speedometer doesn't work again.. so... i changed the transducer lower speedometer cable and yesterday i noticed that the upper cable that goes to the speedometer is really longer than the connection to the transducer. i disconnected the cable from the transducer and held it straight out and twisted the cable and the speedometer worked, now my question is: if the speedometer cable is too long going to the transducer will it work or will it not spin the speedometer?

Did you check your speedometer gear in the transmission? Just a thought.:)

Often times, the transducer is what is messed up and will cause the speedo to not function properly. Speedo cable is meant to be able to bend and still work. However, you don't want too much of a bend, but it should be able to handle slight ones. Does your Cruise Control work? If not, you're probably looking at a messed up transducer...in which case, they are around $90 from any of the Corvette places. It's a tight spot to work in, but worth the effort!

Oh, sorry, I thought you were just talking about the lower cable to the transducer, not the transducer itself.

So, your cruise control does work?!

You might want to try removing the speedo cable from the tranny, and spinning it from down there, and have someone see whether or not the speedo moves. If so, then you can narrow down where the problem is. If you can spin the speedo cable and it works, then as C3forME said, it could be the speedo gear.

Also, this may be obvious but...make sure that the cable is seated properly, as the inside is square and needs to fit correctly.

Hope this helps some.
