Speedometers

its after market. Stock was 85MPH as mandated by the feds, no options.

If you want to switch back to stock for some crazy reason(see NCRS), i would be happy to trade ya.

lol , thanks for the reply, i guess i will keep it , but it is a little hard to read with the numbers so close together. I will get use to it, i have only had the car for 3 months and it spent a month in the paint shop. I just finished putting a new interior in it this week so i am out of funds for a while.
Thanks again
Frank

If you want to upgrade your speedo, many members here have already done so through John at: www.redline.com

You can switch out the 85mph for a 1978: 140mph for only (are you ready) $57.00.
The only difference in looks are the cross flag's, but after a while, not even an issue.
Very easy to install also.

This was dollar for dollar, the best upgrade I've ever done.
There's many other posts on this, try running a search.

Just adding in my experience..

Sent my original 85 mph speedo to ZIPS to be changed to a 140mph. Came back looking just great....finally installed it into the car many months later and noticed that it is about 10mph slow now. I think someone put in the wrong gear or something.

Guess I'll live with it.

Lanny - Why live with it? A simple speedo gear change could fix your problem. If you want to give it a try I'll tell you the details....I had to do the same thing to my
car.
Dave

Dave,
Tell me the details....Is the change in the speedo or in the trans?

I'm listening......

Lanny

Lanny - ...Unscrew your speedo cable at the trans.....remove the tab which holds your speedo gear sleeve in to the trans.....pull out the sleeve....there is a plastic gear in the sleeve....count the teeth on the gear and let me know the count and how far off (fast-slow)your speedo is. By adding or subtracting gear teeth we can get your speedo reading correctly again.

Dave

Dave,
Thanks for the details...it will be a couple of weeks before I can do this as I am working everyday for the next two weeks. So I will get back in touch with you.

Thanks,
Lanny
