Speeker replacement 1993

Hi.

I seen it somwhere but cant find back to it on the forum. Want to replace all 4 speekers and need to know which size will fitt in a 1993 Convertible. The old Bose ones is already rewired and i dont use the amp anymore. Just fitted a 2 din Pioneer navigation unit.

I have seen 5.25" and 6.5" installed in the front locations and 6x9's in the rear locations.

Stock is 5 1/4" for all 4, you can put 6 1/2" in the front, but it requires modifying the enclosure and the same for 6 X 9 in the rear.

Thanks. Is there a lot of grinding to do to fitt 6.5"?

From what I recall, you can use a jigsaw to enlarge the 4" OE hole in the Bose enclosures. You will have to watch the front height / depth of the 6.5" speakers if you want the OE grills to fit back over the enclosure and to fit in the enclosure themselves.

An alternative (I cringe to suggest it) is to install the aftermarket grill over the OE grill if the aftermarket speaker will not fit properly under the OE grill.
