squeeking speedo

can the speedometer cable be lubricated. and if so how? I have a'70 lt1 and it is squeeking something terrible.

Its easy to do once youve found where it pops into the back of the Speedo. Theres a clip back there and it takes some patience to get the cable out. Id look at the back of the Speedo with a mirror and light first so u can develop a plan of attack.

Try removing the wedgie and apply water-proof lubricant.

Would greasing the tranny end only help, I guess it can't hurt. Mine speedo bounces. I don't want to take the dash apart now, weather if finally getting good
