First time this has happened. Took the car out for a little weekend cruise. Went to the store on the way home, went to start the car to go home and the idle was really rough and it died. Started it again and it was still rough but didn't stall. I shut it down and tried starting it again and it ran great like it never had shown any problems. Just curious...:confused

I had something somewhat similar on my 86 at one time. Were you able to get an error code on it or was it gone? When it was cold out, it started then ran a couple of blocks then barely ran. Got it home and in the garage and let it set for a half hour and it ran just fine. IIRC the error code was 42 but don't remember for sure. Tracked that for a long time without success. I kept coming back to the IAC as a possible suspect but never had anything absolute that it was the issue. One day when it happened, I happened to have a plastic faced hammer with me and gave the IAC several raps with it. Problem went away never to return (so far).

Might be your issue, might not but worth a look. Good luck.

Thank you. That sounds about right. Ever since I pulled the vette out of storage after sitting for 5 years it seems like all the sensors need replacing...along with the alternator, clutch...

Located on passenger side of engine on the throttle body. Just a few screws, take it apart and throttle body cleaner removes the carbon on the pintle as well as the inside.
