Hi i'm trying to install my new starter and some wires are cut from the previous owner so i was just wondering what the wires powered. I know which one is from the battery and i know where the purple wire goes but i'm not sure about the single red wire and and the dual red wire that connects to one and also theres a blue wire. the car is an 81 btw and thanks for any input.

Hi Whiteshadow89158, you have more wires down there than I have on my 74.
Top large=12 volt pos from the battery and a 12 guage red ( has a fuseable link and goes to the horn relay and continues on for the courtesy lights ).

The small " S " terminal ( closest to the block ) = 12 guage purple, comes from the ignition switch to activate the starter solenoid when you turn the key to start.

Small " R " terminal ( outboard side ) =small yellow to coil ( + ) when cranking.

Not sure about a blue wire. PG.

great thanks man
