I just got done changing the oil in my 87 and started it up in Neutral and it rolled up about 4-5 inches before it came to a rest. Is this normal? I have never noticed it before, but have never left my foot off of the brake while starting it, and yes it is an automatic. Thanks
It is real common especially if the trans fluid is cold. I have even seen some stick trans. do it. I have always felt that it is an indication of a good tight transmission.
I am sure glad of that. I started mine in neutral in the garage, and had to quickly grab ahold the the car so it didn't roll in to my tool box. I have had the car up on jackstands and started the car in neutral and the wheels started turning.
Cold xmsn fluid does not let the the tq converter slip like it does when it is warm and will roll a little, also holding the brake pedal down when starting a feeling the brake pedal go towards the floor a little (releasing a little) is the test to make sure your brake booster is working..
