I have a 95 vette that I drive about 1500 miles a year. It is a very fair weather driver. I had a complete tuneup 5 years ago and replaced the injectors 3 years ago. It ran perfectly until yesterday. I pulled into my garage Wednesday evening after an uneventful cruise down the beach. Yesterday the car would not start. It turned over and sputtered several times, tried to remain running but didn't and then eventually started after several more tries. After starting there was a large amount of exhaust. Same set of circumstances today. Once started it runs fine and there is not a trace of a problem. I am perplexed as the car is always garaged and ran fine on my drive. I am looking for a starting point. Any suggestions?

Some may Accuse me of just throwing parts at a problem, there are two things that come to mind with your problem. First is a the Ignition coil, my 93 did the same exact thing your car is doing car would rip tires 1 Minuet idle funny the next or not totally start the next time. So after many Tests from bleed downs of Injectors and throwing in good borrowed ECMs I took a normal Timing light threw on the car and when cranked it didn't had any real pattern. so Bought a good OEM coil and the car ran fine Until about a week later out of No ware it sputtered/cut out and threw a System light on dash found out the coolant temp switch wire had been damaged I guess in all my testing so I replaced the Coolant temp and wire and all is well now.

A bit of an After Thought since your car is well cared for I take it you don't run the Gas tank to low and top off on your way home, could you have picked up some water in your last gas fill up, lets face it the Outer Banks of N.C. have not been known for being to far above Sea Level, and you Guys did get a bit of rain not to long ago.
