starts hard when cold

my 89 vert. ith 36,000 miles, seems to start hard when cold. i try to turn it over 3 or 4 times, with negative results. i have to let it sit for 1 or 2 minutes, then it fires right up. any solutions. i hope. thanks in advancead

Fuel pressure check done? 89 doesn't have a cold start injector. Try turning the key to run then off, then back to run, off, then run again and try to start it. That might get the entire fuel rail full and up to pressure. If you just turn it to run you always hear the pump come on right? It should run for 2 seconds and stop if the motor isn't turning. If you don't hear the pump you might have a relay problem.
