Well, I got rim and I wanted them to mount them but before I tell you the story here is a little history. I have been going to Town Fair tire in Norwalk Ct for the past eighteen months and have purchased four sets of tires ($2500) for my car’s and the family. Now that is enough to warrant being treated with some kind hands being a repeat customer.
So, I get there yesterday at 7:45 am and tell the guy I want to get rims mounted on my Vette (the tires on it I just purchased from them last month $880). He then proceeded to tell me that he can’t mount them.. I said WHAT!!.... He then says because I did not purchase them there its company policy to not mount the rims.

I flipped out!!! Told the A__ H__ I have spent over $2500 here in the past 18 months on tires and you sitting there telling me you can’t mount these rims because I did not purchase them here??????????? He says “yep”, sorry company policy.

So after ranting some more I get to work and call the main office in Ct and get the customer service on the phone. Tell them the story and she tells me the same BS.. I explained to her that this would be understandable if I never purchased anything from them and showed up one day to have just rims mounted. I’m a repeat customer and this is the way you treat me? If this is the policy to not treat good customers with some discretion of you so called guidelines, then you need to do some re-thinking about how to do business….

Told them I would NEVER do any business them again…. She said sorry.

You believe this BS!!!!!!!!!!

Moral of the story??? Stay away from Town Fair Tire!!

I do not live in NY so I can not have an impact on them, but if I did live there thety would also lose my business. Their action is the beginning of a company that will fail. :( :( :bash

Save the wave :cool :w

This is when I would find out who the president/CEO is (try the Internet for that info) and write a letter to him personally with copies to any other appropriate executive in that organization!!! I've had much luck going at it that way rather than through Customer Service!!! Just state the facts, conversations, and what you expect from them.

My friend works at a Firestone dealer, they would not mount tires on rims if its not an origional purchase of tires for the rims on the car at the time.

Their reason is, if they sold you the rim, and damage it during installation, they have an agreement with the vendor to replace it, installation damage is coverd. If they damage a rim on your car during installation of new tires, its also coverd.

They also dont like the idea of people buying tires and rims at a discount email place and coming in to have them mounted, the feeling is the possible liabilaty is more than the mounting and balance profit.

To me, if you are a known customer they should help you out. Being tire professionals they should know how to do it without fear of damamge.

Yep, did that this morning.....

I'd also write them a letter in addition to the email!

Last April I took 4 brand new chrome wheels to a big-time tire dealer here in southeastern MA (Sullivan Tire) and wanted them to mount them on my Grand Sport. I had absolutely no problem!! The manager and I opened each box, and we both inspected each wheel so there could be no blame on them if one was found to be scratched or damaged in any way. They did a great job and had no problem with the fact that the tires didn't come from them!!

For another vehicle, I had a local shop take 4 tires off wheels and put them on other wheels. I hadn't bought any of the wheels or tires from them. No problem - I think it was $8/tire including balancing and new valves. I was though a regular tire buyer from them in the past except for that deal.

YA sullivan tire is good.

The Sullivan tire nearest to me is about 30 miles (North Attleboro MA). I don't have a problem with the drive because they always give me top notch service and never damage my rims.

tire ripoff.....

I went to Discount Tire ( a local big chain) and had two tires mounted and balanced that were looose and I dropped off. They charged me $100. ;shrug :bash

Sc$$w That!

I always take mine to a little hole in the wall gas station up the road. I've been to all the "big" wheel/tire places, and ALWAYS watched them work on my car, then give me a fat bill (after I have to correct their nasty habits a few times). Every time I take them to this gas station by my place they treat my stuff like gold (even if it's a chunk of rust), give me the whole package, clean my stuff afterwards, and usually don't even charge me (they know they'll get a nice tip that way). The nice thing is it's usually all done in just a few minutes!:D
