I went with a friend to have the crank from his 78SA inspected. He spun #7 and 2 & 3 were thinking about it. The machine shop told us it is a steel crank and worth saving, but we were suprised that what should be an original L82 would have a steel crank. The block hasn't been bored before so I don't think there was ever a rebuild and the numbers match.
Did the 78SA come with a steel crank or has it been replaced?
