I hate to post the same question on more than one forum, but:

I was checking the caster/camber/and toe settings on the 77 against the factory assembly manual, and I came up with 2.5 degrees caster on the right and 1.6 degrees on the left. For audit control GM recommended both sides to be within 0.5 degrees of each other.
I have been toying with the idea of removing either a 0.030 or 0.060 shim from the rear bolt for the left upper A arm which would move the top ball joint forwards slightly thus increasing the caster. I realize this will also make a small change to the camber, and a tiny change to the toe, but I would like the straight line stability to improve and was wondering if this 1 degree difference in caster was affecting anything.

Anybody have any suggestions?

Cheers all

Richard

Moving the upper ball joint forward REDUCES positive caster; you want to move it rearward to increase positive caster. I'd take it to an alignment shop and have them do it on a rack so they can make the necessary corresponding adjustments to camber and toe so the whole job is done right.

Thanks John, I am starting to lean towards having a shop do it.
