Just picked up a 87 vette 3 weeks ago. Last night I noticed a grinding/squeaking noise when I turn the steering wheel. It happens when I turn left or right. I am not using the car again untill I know what it is/how to fix. Car is in very good condition. 130,000 miles. It almost sounds as if something needs to be lubricated. This noise also happens when the car is in park(off) and I turn the steering wheel.

Thanks for any help or wording I should look for in a seach in the forum.

Thanks

Robbie

Check the power steering fluid. I think C4's were known for power steering leaks.

It's in the reservoir in front of the alternator on the drivers side. :w

Thanks for the tip, it is low below the Hot Line and below the cool line. Any recommendations what Power steering fluid..brands..

thanks

I'll second that!

Routine maintenance is the best - keeps repairs costs down.

We all do!:L:L:L

Just make sure to keep an eye on the level and to see that there isn't a leak.
