Hey everyone,
I have an '89 and am currently trying to tighten up the steering and get rid of the play in my steering as it can make the vette dance all over uneven roads. I've replaced the upper and lower front ball joints as well as the outer tie rods and the front shocks (bilsteins). The car's suspension feels tighter on the road but I still have some play at the wheel. So I opened up the hood and found no slack in the column, rather I can see the column/steering wheel move solidly together up until it meets at the rack. There's about 1/2" to 1" movement to either direction of the column before the wheels start turning. I purchased a set of inner tie rods that arrived after I had the previously listed suspension work performed and am wondering if replacing the inner tie rods will remedy the situation or if I need to replace the entire rack. Any suggestions? If I do need to replace the rack can anybody recommend a reputable retailer/seller?
Thanks,
Jose
