As we all know, getting out of our cars can be a test. I generally use the steering wheel to help me pull myself out but if I put more than just a mild bit of weight on it the tilt collapses.

Even on a slalom course, if I get carried away the tilt collapses as well. Kind of fun putting it back into position while negotiating orange cones! No problem putting it back into position but what causes this and what is the cure?

thanks, Safety

I learned the hard way too; try using your left elbow on the rear fender just behind the door, and your right hand on the windshield header. It works for me and keeps me from damaging my tilt mechanism again.

Me too, and I'm lucky that the previous owners didn't see fit to use the wheel as a prybar either :L
At least there was something I didn't have to replace or repair ;LOL
