Steering Wheel Wobble

I put new Falkens on my c5 and had them balanced when they were installed. I noticed a slight steering wheel wobble above above 6Mph. I took the car to my dealership because they had a new high speed wheel balancer. The dealership told me all four new tires were out of round and could not be balanced and take them back to the tire shop. The tire shop thinks I am crazy that there is no way all 4 could be out of round like the dealer said. After calling a couple of tire balancing locations they agreed that it would be highly unusual that all 4 would be bad. I have not had a chance to take the car to another balancing shop yet. My question is could the rear tires out of balance cause the steering wheel to wobble or only the front?

Prob not.... if rear are out... feel in the booty; front out ... feel it in your hands.

Both out.... feel it in your Ba11s!!

Not likely...usually just the front would make it do that.....the dealer may just be nuts...:L

First off, if you're experiencing the wobble in the steering wheel, that would indicate to me that it's the front wheels that have the issue rather than all four. (If the rear wheels had an issue, you'd feel that in the seat when you drive.)

As for how usual or unusual a situation this is, I'm inclined to wait for a professional opinion from C4C5Specialist. (He should be in tomorrow morning.)

Great..I can't wait for C4C5Specialist to say..."Its usual that when the front wheels are out of balance or out of round that the steeering wheel wobbles/shakes"....since he didn't have the problem before the new tires were put on what do you think it could be?...maybe the radiator hoses deteriorating thats causing the steering wheel to shake??:L ...j/k...j/k...j/k

I simply meant how unusual it was that several tires could be "out of round" at the same time. It's entirely possible that it's a spin balance/alignment issue, too. I just wanted a professional consultation.

Sheesh! I think I'm gonna get a refresher on my sparkling adult beverage now. :L

hehe...ok...me too....brb...:)

Davide,

Did you really mean 6mph? If it is 6mph, you have seriously bad tires or bent wheels. If you meant 60mph, then it could still be a balance problem.
