Have had a 98 convertible for 3 years, never had this happen until this spring. While listening to the radio I heard a couple of 'crackling' sounds, thought it was bad reception maybe but it was a local station, then heard a loud 'pop' and stereo went silent and display went out. Clock came back on in a few seconds, then pushed the on button and the stereo came back on also. This happened again about a week later. Have checked battery connections, not sure were all the grounds are but have checked a few of those as well, is there a diagram available to show locations of all of them?. No related DIC codes showing either. Anyone with a suggestion of other possibilities or a key ground to check? I'll try pulling out the stereo itself next to check connections behind it. Thanks for any help in advance.
