still can't get reart rotor's off

I still can't get the rear rotor's off of my '74' vette. I have drilled off the rivets, and I have the whole assembly on my work bench. I backed off the parking brake completely. It still won't move.:confused please help.

Just did mine today, did you push the rivets all the way out the back? That is what was holding mine up. After I took them completely out, a few LIGHT taps with a hammer and they came right off. Hope this helped, I know they can be a pain.

what are calling the back? I guess I still don't understand. This is my first vette and I just can't seem to make anything with the rear end work.
thanks for any help you can give me.

I think what they mean is did you punch out the rivits. You may have to rotate the rivit to the 6 o'clock position and use a punch and a hammer and drive it through. If the heads are drilled off then the rivits will punch through without much force. I mean many light hits not a couple of big blows.

are you talking about the 5 rivits on the front of the rotor? or the 4 rivits on the back that holds the whole spindle asembly onto the control arm?

The rivets that hold the rotor on, that is the ones you were talking about right? Brusso was right on that is what I meant is to punch them out the back.

thanks for the help. I got the rotor off. But now I cant get the spindle bracket off, to get the caliper bracket off to get the dust cover off. Thanks again

The dust cover is removed after the parking brake shoes are completly removed. To do this you must rotate the spindle and work through the hole with needle nose pliers. Hayne's repair manual takes it step by step. Are your brake shoes damaged? Removing the shoes and re-installing is a PIA, unless you need too, you might want to reconsider.

I got the parking brake shoes off, still cant spindle and caliper bracket off.

Never have done that. But in looking at the break down, it would appear that you will have to remove the assembly from the trailing arm to access the bolt that comes through from behind.
