I tried that sticky stuff for the back of break pads like you guys suggested. It lasted for about 2 days. They are strating to squeak again. Are there any suggestinos how to get rid of this besides getting new pads and rotors??
Please it gets rather annoying:mad

Are we talking about front or rear pads?

A mechanic friend of mine always uses a dual action sander and a 3M scotch brite pad to make a cross hatch pattern on the face of the rotors. He said that the machine finish from the brake lathe didn't allow the pad to bed in correctly, thus not allowing the ideal interphase between the pad and rotor. I do this when I do the brakes on my cars. I always use OEM brake pads, whether it is on my Acura or Vette and scuff the rotors with a scotch brite pad and da sander. I also follow a bedding process for the pads and rotor of about 10 stops, increasing pedal pressure after each stop, and allowing everything to cool between stops. I've been doing this for a couple of years, and haven't had a squeek yet.

My experience with squeaking brakes are that the pad is chattering against the caliper. There is some compound you can apply to the back of the brake pad and sometimes there is a piece of material that is placed on the backside of the brake pad.

Good luck,
Dino

I'm pretty sure all Bosch brake pads come with a metallic plate on the back of the brake pad. It's on this metallic plate that you liberally put on the stop squeak stuff.

RedVette offers the probable fix to your squeak, as the backing compound you used, one of many types, which if used according to directions, should eliminate one source of them: the rubbing of the pad against the caliper piston.

You might try a panic stop or two to scruff off any possible pad glazing, but most probably, you will need to pull the pads, scruff them and the rotors, then do a break-in routine.
