Still messing with my ameter, question is the two posts that go thru the gauge houseing what if they touch the housing will that short the meter? just trying to keep from destorying another meter

Yes They look like they could move and short on housing

JOE, I just looked at my spare amp meter, still mounted on the cluster. yes it does look like it would short out. apparently it doesn't. plus i see an insulator between the terminals.
if you need it, let me know!

meter

OK Thanks I'm thinking about putting some small pieces of shrink tubeing where it would touch the housing

heat shrink is great stuff. have you considdered the upgrade to a voltage guage instead an amp guage??

joe, later tonight i'll take my amp gauge off the panel. let you know what i find. i also have a volt gauge if you want to go that way.

stock wiring

I'd like to keep my stock wiring intact as previous owner rewired A/C switches and added toggle switches, Not my style. Not to mention I had a 69 cougar with wiring gremlins back in the day drove Me crazy

by the way

by the way, that's not a pic of my car my daugther thought that car was a good car for me and they only want 3200 for it !

small insulator

Robin, There are some really small piece's of plastic at the bottom of the posts gauge must seat in there right.

JOE, yes, there is a plastic cup on each terminal stud. they line up the gauge. then there's a nut and washer on each.an insulator piece between the terminals. lastly, the terminal connectors. i took my spare apart to verify the sequence.

good luck
