Does anyone know if the race seats are as comfortable as the stock seats in a C7 Z06?

Just finished the Ron Fellows Z06 racing school. The car had the racing seats and my Z06/Z07 has the stock seats. The racing seats are not as comfortable BUT the differences are small.

Did the race seats hold you in way better or just a little better? Does the school have the std lap belt or like 5 pt harnesses? Would you get the race seats if you were to order again?

The stock seats and the race seats hold you about the same when they are adjusted properly. The school recommends a steep rake in the front of the seat which prevents you from sliding forward under hard braking and a high seating position to keep you above the brake with arms almost parallel to the road when hands are at 9 and 3 on the wheel. The class I took was Level 1 and all of the cars are equipped with 3 point belts. I would buy the stock seats again as they are compatible with a 6 point harness (when you use a harness bar like the one from Local Motors) and they are more comfortable. The main difference between the two is the backrest which is stiffer in the race seats and it is raked forward at the headrest a bit more which really cramps your neck if you are wearing a helmet.

So the picture was of the Ron Fellows' corvette? Didn't their chest harness hold you in way better than your stock belt? And if you put in a 6 pt harness and harness bar in your Z06; would the harness flow onto your shoulders as well as it does with the race seats with the slots cut into the seat?

The picture is a local motors harness bar installed in a Bondurant C7. If you use a harness bar, you can install 5 or 6 point belts. The Ron Fellows level one cars all use stock 3 point belts which are fine unless you are going to try to run something like the Silver State Classic Challenge in a class running above 135 mph. Then you need a 6 point harnesses installed to pass tech. The width between the harness openings on the competition seat is the same as the opening in the GT seat. The only difference is the competition seat will keep the belts from chafing your neck in hard cornering. Use whatever seat and belt arrangements you wish.012013_5b.jpg
