I used moth balls in my 61 last year and did not have any mice in mine over the winter.

Good luck. Dave

A lot of campers use "Bounce" fabric softner sheets scattered around inside their trailers to keep out mice . I used them last year in my travel trailer and didn't have a mouse problem . And they smell better than mothballs too . Cliff

I put moth balls around the garage, plus I put sticky traps around the wall. My brother had me put "Bounce" strips inside the car and placed them under the hood, he also said to put them in the exhaust pipes. I am a licensed pest control person and I did everything he said plus the sticky traps, can't hurt. Mice will come in through a 1/4 hole. I would seal all opening, they have a habit of running along a wall, they have to keep the fur against the wall. They are nosey and will look or check out anything new. so if you put down sticky traps put a dab of peanut butter in the middle, check your traps weekly. I put my 90 convertable up last weekend and already having withdraw. :cry

I am having problems with this with storing my 67 deville.I have found out the car cover makes it worse. I had treid have a hart traps with NO luck. I will not use poisen because I am afraid they will die in my car. I am thinking of getting one of those bag a car storage systems to seal the car up in. Me personally am at wits end with this car and the verman, I dont have these problems in my home garage but the caddy is being stored in a neighbors detached garage

I work for a food company and I am responable for the pest control. I know that the first thing we are taught is elimnate the opens, meaning seal all opens. Now with that being said, they still will get in. I put metal traps around the inside perimeter every 20 ft and on both side of door opening. These traps have a glue board in the which we change every week when we check the traps. That is why I said put down your glue boards which you can buy from home depot or menards, I also put peanut butter in the center of glue board this will intice them to enter. I do know that moth balls help, and the downey strips will keep mice from poking around opening because of the smell. If you have a garage thats not attached then we put rodent traps out side around the garage and keep vegatation from growing up next to the building. The bag is great but if a mouse gets in or rodent of some sort then they can chew it. Rodents are curious so any movement will stop them but once they get use to it then they will poke around. Rats are worse because they are smart and cautious, they have been know to wait for a long period of time checking out something new because it's a change, they have been know to jump over a trap. Hope this will help when you winterize, but it's the same for your home or garage, summer or winter. Clean any harborage or debris up, get rid of garbage, rags, paper, boxes anything they will make nest in.:w

I also use "bounce" in the car and so far have not had a problem. Also set mouse traps baited with a peanutbutter mixed with rolled oats mixture, this seems to be the bait they like and if they are there you will catch them. Let us know what works for you so we can add to the cures. Jimbo 64

Here's another one you're gonna like...Irish Spring soap. Place a few bars around the inside of the car. Mice can't stand it and the car takes that odor instead of that moth ball odor.

I mean really, did you ever smell moth balls?....how did you get their little legs apart?:L

There's other ways to get through winter.

Any mouse that gets in my Corvettes pays little or no attention to moth balls and knows very well he will get his froze off on my next trip. If that don’t keep them away there is always Woody the super cat (see attached). Even the ’72 gets driven in the winter, the fun of owning a Corvette is driving it. I do stick to the nice days when it very cold and no sloppy roads.

I use critter ridder, a granular (pepper,I think) substance sprinkled on the carpet, moth balls under the hood,& never had a problem. for those that want to keep mice out of the garage I use a large pail with a ramp up to it, get a beer can and poke a hole in the bottom, straighten out a wire coat hanger put it through the can so it spins around the wire & lay it across the top of the pail, smear some penutbutter on the can, the mice will go up the ramp, jump on the can and fall in the pail. You can put some water in the pail or leave it dry so you can live release the mice so they can come back in the garage. The great part is you don't have to reset it.
