Storing a new Grand Sport

I am keeping my Grand Sport in the garage for a couple of months at a time, driving it every now and then. Question, I plan on using a battery tender when not using the vette. Comments anyone.

I said this because you said couple of months....I have had exp w/bad fuel and a few bucks spent before is NOTHING compared to what you could end up with if bad gas.....ruins stuff incl fuel lines/pump etc....

Since I can only drive one of my three corvettes at a time, I rotate them every two weeks. This means that each one is stored a minimum of 4 weeks. I keep a battery tender on them at all times, and cover them with a car cover. I only use fuel stabilizer when I store them over the winter. According to C4C5 specialist at the last CF in Effingham, with a good battery you should not have to use a battery tender for only a month or two storage periods. However, you have to choose what is most comforting to you, to tender or not to tender.

I agree with Barrett; My C1 & my C6 are always garaged and if they are going to be idle more than a few days they are covered with a DelTran Battery Charger (hidden kill switch on the '59 & fuel stabilizer in winter months only).

I wouldn't "store" a Corvette as it's a tremenously BAD investment. It's a car (albeit a fun car) but it's meant to be driven. Don't "save" your car for the next guy. Enjoy your car!

Now, as far as the battery question~
Because of the "DBS" with C6's I'd have a tender on it if you only drive it "every couple of months."

I live in SoCal and drive my car almost daily, and I use a fuel stabilizer ALL THE TIME. (The stuff I use isn't generally available to the public sector.) It does 8 jobs, not just stabilizing.

I use a tender unless the car is not going to be driven for more than four weeks .Four weeks or more I disconnect the battery as GM recommends .

Saving a vett is a personnel option which I won't question .I can tell you they don't hold their value like they use to .In four years it'll be worth half what you paid regardless of mileage and options .

I live in New York State where the Vettes are stored from Nov-April and I've never disconnected the battery in any of my Corvettes, ever (I’ve had 17 over the years). As said earlier, if my babies are going to sit more than a few days the DelTran Battery Tender is connected; I still have the original battery in my '06 and it's never failed me. The battery in my '59 is 13 years old and it has never failed me. *As far as value... the '59 is worth a little more than the $4,768.80 sticker price today. Bottom line... Enjoy your Corvette whenever waxing, showing or driving them!!!

My 1989 Corvette has be connected to a Battery Tender from day one.
The 1st battery lasted 13 years and i now on the 2nd battery. I have 4700 miles on my car now and the battery has never failed me.
