Unfortunately I live in ohio. So, I will be storing my baby for the winter. I would like some feedback on some do's and don'ts. I have never stored a car before, so any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks

We also live in a "snow belt" and put our Corvettes away for the long, cold winter! They are totally cleaned, top to bottom, and I like to put a good conditioner on the seats, before covering them up. We also put "trickle chargers" on the batteries so the batteries don't die during the winter. Oh, and we fill the gas tanks. That's about it for us. Then we just wait out the winter!:cool

I do follow most of the items listed below:

Especially the check list. I also get the car off the ground, watch your jack points and put jack stands with wood between the stand and the jack points of my C5. I then contact my insurance to notify them that my baby is in bed. Also I've found that a good ground sheet underneath the car reduces the moisture that the car is subjected to. It takes me about 5 to 6 hours to put mine to bed correctly. But, in the spring after the sand and salt is washed off, it's worth it.

Here is my routine from the past three years once the weather turns cold (around November 1):

- Wash & Polish
- Place gas stabilizer in gas tank and fill tank with 92 octane
- Inflate tires to proper pressure
- Silicone Grease on weather stripping
- Clean leather and condition seats
- Re-charge (bake) and place 4 Dri-Packs in car
- Battery Tender on Battery
- Wash & dry car cover (actually back in July) and place on car
- Raise car on 4-post lift (to keep winter "slop" off from daily driver parked next to it.)
- Remove collision coverage with insurance company

car cover

Whats the best, priced right , car cover for my 73 vette? Any suggestions?

They have covers that are for indoor only and indoor/outdoor.

You can pick one up cheap at K-mart or you can hit some OEM catalogs and pay upwards of $260. (Mid-America, Ekler's, Corvette Central) You can probably also put "car cover" in to an Internet Search Engine and see if something else comes up.

I have a Wolf for my C5. It's an indoor. I think it ran me $140.

I need to get one for my 1963 at some point. It will also be an indoor but will be more cotton-based. I also expect it to cost around $140.

I look for softness, warranty, breathable, washable, & custom fit. There are a lot of good covers out there.
