Hi everyone,

Just wanted to let you all know that I did mount the LT1-tipped pipe on my car this am.

Outside, idle is pretty awesome. Definitely it will let everyone know this is a V8, and one that is not kidding around at that.

Sounds loud and throaty under acceleration, I think this is the resonance and that it is low for me, maybe 1100-1300 rpm. Cruising seemed not too much different than before.

I'm going to go to a road test now for more data.

...WOW, this corvette really pulls at the top end. I hit the rev limiter by accident, hp curve must be still climbing at 6300 rpm.

--I'd say it is not much louder if you accelerate it from 2000-6000 rpm than before.

Excellent! You'll have to run it down so I can have a listen and compare it to Mad-mic's straight pipes.

There's definitely a drone from 1300-1600 rpm, I'd say. It's very intense, enough that I heard something rattle (?an interior piece?).

The idle is not too loud at all, nor, like I said, the sound above 2000 rpm.

Rich, I don't think this is the same exterior sound as yours. If you start working on your engine project, let me know if you want a hand.

Glad to hear you did something with the exhaust... I hope you like it. I know I did on every 'vette that I have had! The drone you are talking about between 1300 and 1600... I assume that is under accelleration? One of the tricks is to shift right at 2000 under normal driving conditions... that always worked for me. with the 6 speed the ratios are close enough so you won't get drone at all.

'93,

Yes, under acceleration. I'm not sure what you mean about 2k rpm, if I start out in 1st I have to go thru the 1300-1600 range, although I can keep it in 1st then and the drone will go away.

I sure like how it sounds from say 2000-6xxx rpm. Idle is quiet enough, but I'm not sure if it's the throaty sound I like. Beggers can't be chosers though. I want to see if I can reach low 12's w/ this config plus good tires and higher rev limiter setting.

How's your vert search going?
