Eariler this spring the battery went dead on my '90 Corvette. It seems to have effected the clock in some strange way. This is the clock on the Bose Radio/Cassette player. I set it per the instructions in the owners manual but it doesn't keep time. However, later, when I start the car, the clock has moved ahead to the current time. Then while the car is running, it doesn't keep time again, but when I stop, then start the car another time, it again reads the correct time at that moment.

Am I missing a step?

I almost wonder if it doesn't have some type of internal battery. While the car is running it turns to the internal battery, while off it depends on the external... no, that still sounds silly. It resets itself to the correct time when first turned on. Let me ask you this... does your Corvette believe in gremlins?

Someone here at work suggested that I'm driving too fast. When the car is running, I push it so hard that it drains all sources of power, the clock battery included. Then when I stop, it catches up.

Gremlins sounds more likely, I don't drive that fast!

Yup.. The flux capacitor is being taxed. :L

There is a 'hot' feed to the clock, which powers it and the memory. There is a separate wire, probably orange, which powers the rest when the key is 'on'. I'd carefully dis/re-connect the battery (+), then do your reset again. Hopefully, you've not sent any power spikes to the radio that damaged it.

The wiring diagram is not handy, but pulling the fuse may accomplish the same thing.

Thanks, I'll look this evening. Makes sense, maybe I disturbed the wires when my neighbor and I jump started the car. And no, the radio has not been effected.
