Hi guys,
Well I finally managed to start with the frame off resto on my 68 convertible. It was really easier than what I thought. 2 half days and all the parts where stored in boxes and the body off the frame.

There were 2 things that did upset me a bit, first of all, the specs sheet I was looking to find, wasn't on top of the gas tank anymore, from that point on the chase for the original engine somehow died. The second point was, when lifting the body, the rear part appeared to be somehow "loose".

While lifting the body (with a propper hoist and lifted on 4 sides), the rear just became loose. Ok it didn't fall off, but it wasn't stiff to the whole body (as for example the whole front).

The fiberglass pillar where the driver's door shuts, started to open like a pivot, till about 3/4".

I'm not sure if it was unglued or cracked or both. Any Ideas how that part of the car can be properly repaired / reinforced?

Thanks a lot agian

Dan

PS: here the pic's from the damage

Dont worry, thats normal. You have to remember, without that frame, there isnt much there to kep the body rigid. When I lift a corvette on my lift There is always alot of flex at the front door/fender gap.And that is with a frame under it.just make a body stand for it to rest on because if you havent opened those doors yet ,when you do it will flex even more. :w
