C2 Guys,

Terrific article in this months "Corvette Magazine", titled Generation Two. It's a nice look at the market value of 63 - 67 Sting Rays. I was particulary interested in the 65 as I purcashed one brand new in the "summer of 65". Mine was a roadster ordered with the L78 396 cid motor, side exhaust and knock-off wheels. By the summer of" 66" I was having a two year all expense paid vacation in Southeast Asia. When I returned the car was waiting and I enjoyed it even more than when I first got it. My folks were glad to get it out of their garage.

After reading the article it became clear that the 65's are considered among the most collectable of the C2's for many reasons. If we only knew than how this corvette thing would turn out we would have never parted with those lovely ladies. At any rate it's a good read and I know you guys will enjoy it.

C5 guy just wandering into C2 country,
Regards - Remo

I know what you mean. Remo.....but I kept mine.

Just yesterday, I had a guy who rebuilds Corvettes ask me what I was doing cutting up a $100,000 car.

I replied that I wasn't cutting up a $100,000 car. It only cost me $6,311.55 (................................................new :D )

;LOL

Thanks,
I'll keep my eyes opened for it..

sounds like a story I'd like to read :D

You'll probably get the same comments I do when you display your car with the window sticker.

Admirer says, 'I'll pay you that right now!'

Bob replies, 'Sure, factor in change of value of the dollar, cost of parts over the years, my time...kchinga...that'll be $125,000.'

Admirer, 'Will you take any less?'

Bob replies, ' Got $80,000 cash? Now?'

That usually scares 'em away. One of these days though, someone will call my bluff.

Bob

The 1965 was Zora's favorite too...Can't ask for a better recommendation...

A friend here who has been in the Corvette repair/resto business since the 60's has a 65 396 coupe with knock offs and side exhausts. It's survivor quality in all categories, including original paint, etc. He's got a picture of Zora sitting in it at a show somewhere about 20 years ago and said he remarked then that it was his favorite Corvette.

Unfortunately, he has this car displayed in his showroom in front of a large window. Several non-caucasians decided several years ago to heave a concrete block through the window to relieve him of a set of wheels on display, and the block landed in the hood of the 65, so now it's original paint with 2 serious scratch/gouges most of the way back to the windshield. I suspect there'd have been a shootin' if he'd caught the perpetrators that night. It's still a time capsule vehicle, unmolested, unrestored, that I hope I might end up with some day.

Got my Zora info from a June 1989 Car & Driver Article...Where the favorite mention was regarding the 375 Fuelie which they tested...

Either way...It was the 1965...
