Contrary to the weather reports, it was a beautiful weekend here at the Carolina beach. I took my Vette out both days for nice rides. It was almost coupe-top-removal weather, but my wife said "No", so, we didn't.

Sunday we toured a few of the local beach islands that we haven't seen in a while, and had lunch in Calabash NC - fried seafood, but goooood!

Anyhow, I decided to check my gas metering. The average MPG showed 25, and I did 108 miles with 24+ gallons. So the readout was pretty accurate. But even better was the mileage - I can't believe I am getting 25MPG in this puppy!

All the performance and economy too - wow!

Uh, excuse me! Make that 4+ gallons!!!

Way to go! Ya know it's funny cuz I have a hard time getting my wife to agree to driving w/ the top off as well. Must be a woman/hair thing cuz I'm a top off/windows down kind of guy and that doesn't seem to happen much when she is along for the ride:)

I'm still amazed at the gas mileage I'm getting w/ my LT4. Went to Sedona and back on 1/2 a tank. That's better mileage than our BMW 525i gets. Who'd a thunk!!!! Light car/big motor=good mileage? Must be.......you gotta love it none the less.

I'm envious though cuz I'd love to drive along the coast in my car but unless Ca. has a quake and falls into the ocean it's "cacti" and "dust" for me.
See ya:w

My vette gets 30 mpg on the highway, its as good as MS Heats little nissan sentra with a 4 banger.

Yeah. Mine went out and got a head scarf, but I guess it wasn't enough.

Yep. That 25 is just about what I'd get. Around town 22-23. Open flat road with few starts, stops, hills 25-26. This is with the 3:08 auto gearing and light foot.

Hey Bob
I lived in Wilmington for a while........I have people ask me about my mileage .....they think that just because it can haul buggy that it gets poor mileage....I tell them jokingly that it only gets 27 mpg... then ask them what thier RICE BURNER gets...but most of the time I get no response....of coarse I do have a 2.59 rear gear and that helps...

LOL
Mike

I am south of Wilmington, on Oak Island. Nice place, but mostly 35MPH!

My rear is (I think) stock 3.45 - if I may ask - what is the advantage of a 2.59 rear? Top end? Where would you use it?

Bob
That is the way it came....The car was used as a Pace car in the north east...I guess the rear gear is for better top end...
It just idles going down the street.... I lived in spring Valley when I was in Wilmington.. ever heard of it???

gas Mileage

Just came back from a 1400 mile trip NC to FL and averaged 25.8 MPG driving mostly at highway speeds (75 to 85 MPH). 94 Coupe, Automatic, LT-1.

Just filled my 90 with 6 speed and what I believe is 4:10 gears. one trip of 50 miles each way the rest was 15 mile trips each way , with engine cooling before the return. On about 300 miles , 22.3 mpg .
