I need help here... i have 1981 corvette.. and my bracket arm for the driver side sunviser broke in two.. so now where it pops in on the main braket of the car its half stuck in there two and i do not know how to remove.. i took of chrome peice and took out little braket with the spring underneath it. now how do i take out the broken peice? does it twist out? of do i have to hammer it out with wedge? please help

The arm itself or what holds the arm in place????

This is pretty common and an easy fix. I'm guessing its the cast elbow.
When mine broke, I got a replacement from Corvette Central. I believe the elbow is sold seperately and then a small kit with a replacement windshield frame cap, spring and crown retainer. You need use an awl to remove the old crown retainer and then use a socket extension with a quick sharp tap from a hammer to remove the elbow from the frame.

scary but it worked for me

i did try using the hammer.. i was twisting my sunvisor up and down and it snaped from the ars upper part thats mounted to the ar.. so i still have the part oneeted to the sunvisor that requires those plasti brushing but the top part of the l-shaped bolt or whatever it is is stuk withing the main holding unit that attahed to the upper frame of the driver side. and i took it apart and i see the top of it down in there and i tried hammering it out and upwards and it wont budge :mad

Tap on the end of the elbow pin.

thats a good sketch of the sunvisor.. so ya that elbow joint thing that you have to push up into the frame of the car snapped off.. and so i did try taking a wedge and hammer and trying to hit it downward to try to get it out and didnt even budge.. i just ended up cruching the top of it

There must be something holding that elbow up there. I just repaired mine and, after removing the retainer, the elbow came out easily. You have removed the retainer right?

Hammer

Over the years I have found that one can fix just about anything with a hammer.:beer
