Supplier discount question

I have read threads where folks have bought C6 coupes using GM supplier discounts. I don’t understand why a dealer would do this with such a high demand car. I’m guessing any dealer in the US can get MSRP for a new Corvette, so why would they pass up on a $6,000 markup? What is in it for a dealership to do this for this car? And yet I read time and time again “had to call six dealerships before one would honor the GM supplier discount”. I called all my local Chevy dealers to see if they would honor the supplier discount, and I think I offended them with the question! :eyerole

I was able to take advantage of the supplier cost, don't ask me why I don't know but the MSRP on my C6 was 51,365.00 and I ended up getting it for 44,222 and While the demand is there I don't think it's all that great, if it was why did I get a $1000.00 rebate? Generally speaking the only time a automobile maker gives a rebate is when things are not going great, as a matter of fact there even giving rebates on the Hummer, and that's a first...

many dealers are trying to INCREASE their allocations, which is the main reason for honoring many of the programs

I was able to get the GMS, but not through any local dealerships (Houston) but found a great place outside of Houston. Listed for 53,785, got for 44,503 after the 1000 cash back.

No discount here

I would have been entitled to the supplier discount, however after calling about a dozen dealers in the Jersey area, (including Kerbeck -- largest in area) none would honor. I called GM on it and they said it was up to dealers discretion -- the discount comes from dealer pocket not GM. They did say I could get a great deal on a Cobalt SS thought :L

I found the same in Houston, dealers said it was optional program and they would not do the deal. Same response, sell me anything they have except the Corvette. Very lucky to find a smaller dealership that was way more friendly and helpful than any dealership in Houston. I was told that if you check some dealerships in Michigan (Flint, Detroit) they are more willing to take the GMS. Of course, the program for Corvettes is cancelled for now. Maybe next year. Good Luck!
