Has anyone ever had any doubts whether or not a particular part or job had been done or performed? I'm having some doubt about whether my
OPTI has been replaced or just "dried out" as suggested by some of the
knowledgable forum members. I know it's a little after the fact, but now
I'm wondering whether I can trust my dealership of quite a few years.
I was told a few years back that the "GOODWRENCH" people had the
policy of returning the replaced/old part to the customer. This was not
done in this case. Your thoughts, if any. Thanks

Donne, the dealer that I use "always" asks me when I pick up my cars if I want the old parts. Everytime! It has always been the Service Manager's policy to have the techs do this (they even asked if I wanted the engine and transmission from a change out [charging me for the core on the transmission return if I so elected this option]. Even the independent that maintains my Mercury does this, but interesting the local Ford dealer (a scumbag operation if ever there was one) told me that they "never" heard of such a thing. I only went there once. From my limited perspective I think you may have cause for concern.

When we lived in MD years ago it was law that old parts were returned to the customer. Most shops saved them to show the customer and it was then his/her choice to take them or have them thrown away. As a shop owner we always keep the old parts and let the customer decide as well as holding returnable cores until the custome sees them.

If they did in fact put a Genuine AC Delco Opti Spark on it,it was a Genuine AC Delco Re-Man and your old one was sent in the be Re-Man!:thumb:thumb:thumb
Thats just the way it is now, there are No new ones left unless you find one where somebody bought up a bunch to hold to sell at big profit as NOS ("New Old Stock") down the road!!:thumb:thumb:thumb

But,I'd still be suspicious after the brown anti-freeze and water leak!!:thumb

The last Opti I done for a customer ran about $1600.00,but that also included Flush,Thermostat,2 gal antifreeze,8 Spark Plugs,New Wires,New Water Pump,2 Idler Pulleys,Belt and Timing Cover Seals!;shrug;shrug;shrug

Obvious question...does it look new/rebuilt?

I was just goint to say to look down there and see if the Opti looks new.

Can't tell

I don't think you can tell remanufactured from new.(acid dipped)
Really who cares ???:W
The casting is old but all the guts are new.:upthumbs
If I am correct the opti is virtually invisible under / behind the water pump.?????

Now we know how you can afford living in NC and FL!! :D

All that work and parts for $1600....I'd say that was reasonable.

I know you're were joking though. :D

It sure wasn't by giving "Free" Tech on Corvette sites and selling Corvettes and Parts on the Internet!!:D:D:D

Actually,Vero was good to me, and Still is!!:thumb
I've probly made mine off of Collision Repair for spoiled little Surfer Boys of "Johns Island" and "The Mooring's" with "Big Boy Toys" that Can't drive for Sh*t!!:thumb
