First, sorry for the long post, but I want to relate my experience when I ordered the complete "new" trailing arm assemblies from Fast Corvette.com (aka) Duntov motor co. I discussed what components went into these units with the owner, Allan. I was told they would have Timken Brgs. and would ship in 5-7 days, To make a long story short, I received the t-arm assys 45 days later after numerous phone calls and excuses, To make matters worse, the pass brg was really loose after a drive to the alignment shop. I disconnected the half shaft and a dial indicator showed .060" clearance. I called Fast Corvette and no one was available to talk to in the tech dept but the secretary advised to just take it off and sent it in for repair. As most of you know, "just taking off" an installed t-arm is a PITA. I decided to check things out myself as I now had NO confidence in their workmanship or promptness in shipping. 1st, the spindle nut was loose, so I touqued it to 100ft/lb. Now there was no clearance!!! I pulled the spindle and the outer brg was stuck on the spindle and the machine shop had to destroyed it to remove it. The brg housing had no grease inside it, and very little in/on the brgs. To my surprise (yeah right) the brg was "made in China" , but the race was Timken. I got a new outer brg and matching race, shimmed it to .001" and all is back together and works well in... 1 day.
Beware dealing with these folks...I learned a valuable lesson.

Sorry about your experience. I heard similar things about them and got my assembly from VanSteel. They were very professional and the parts were perfect.

The boards are full of horror stories lately about fastcorvette.com; they appear to be in financial trouble and are shipping (or not shipping) lots of junk. Send your trailing arms to professionals with a good reputation like Bair's or Van Steel that have been doing this critical work for many years and you'll never have to touch them again.

Outstanding C3 Mechanic in Texas

If you need any quality trailing arm or differential work done in the DFW area contact CAC member "stingray6974". Mike is his name. He is extremely honest, very competant, and he knows C3's !! He has worked on my 1973 convertible and I intend to have him do more work in the future. He is outstanding. I would recommend him to anyone without any reservation. Some members have taken their corvettes to him even though they live several hundred miles from him--he is that good. Contact me if you need more information re Mike.
