Going to repalce the tach board in the 80 vette. Do you have to drop the steering column to get the speedo / tach out ?? Thnx Dave. :w

no,just be careful getting it out.its tight but it can be done...

Dave- I'd loosen the steering column. I've removed the gauges a couple of times before on my old '78. It makes a world of a difference. FYI- it is just two bolts.... 1/2 inch hexes if I remember correctly.
 
NOOOO! 78-82s you don't need to remove the speedo/tach cluster. Simply remove the 3 SHORT screws at the top of the bezel and one on each side and remove the clear window. 6 allen screws removes the speedo/tach bezel. 3 phillips screws removes the tach face. All from the front.
