Tach Circuit Board

Silly question but where exactly is the tach circuit board? I have read that an easy way to take apart the tach is to remove the tach lens, then the tach face & access the tach through the front. Before I try this I wonder if it will work or if I will need to rip out the whole dash. Anyone have experience with this type of repair?

The tach circuit board is attached to the back side of the tach, and speed-o. I think you can take the whole thing out without removing the dash, but have never done it so I'm not sure.
