I have conflicting info on the type of tag that is on an early 64 positrac rearend. Metal or plastic? Nolan's restoration manual says plastic 64-67 but the GM manual says metal 63-64. Corvette Central says metal. I tried a search but found nada. Is there a special way to do a search that contains two or three words? ;shrug.

The NCRS '63-'64 Judging Guide and the J. Tripoli Chassis Restoration Guide both say the tag is metal, and reads "USE LIMITED SLIP DIFF LUBE ONLY"; the plastic tag started in '65. In any event, the tag is allocated less than one point (out of 4500) in judging.

Thank you JohnZ. I ordered a Judging Guide from CC Oct. 28 but it is backordered until Feb. 15. Regards, Robert

You're better off ordering it from the NCRS at their on-line store at www.ncrs.org (that's who publishes it); the new 5th Edition just went to the printer this week, and will be available from the NCRS first, before they start shipping them to outside vendors. :)
