Hi ya'll, How do I see if my vert has a tank sticker? Where is it located exactly? How do I get to it? Fred. :confused

It's right on top of the gas tank. If you remove the Astro vents, you may be able to get a glimpse of it but unless you have a lanky kid in the neighborhood it's not coming out that way. To actually remove it safely, you'll need to drop the tank. Some try it without dropping but some fail miserable and have to scotch tape it back together.

- Good luck!

Eric, This would still be the best way to see if it is there, on top of the tank, thru the astro vents? Fred.

Best? Not always but it's the easiest way to see if it's there. If you don't see it there, you'll have to get under and feel around on the top of the tank. Many that have never been dropped and removed have just withered away to nothing and all you'll feel is the remnants. Even if you can't see it through the vents, the skinny kid's arm might be alble to feel it down there. That's a lot easier than jacking it up, dropping the spare and going up from the bottom IMHO.

You can also take the rubber boot off of your gas tank filler neck, or push it out of the way. Take a flashlight and look down on the drivers side...the left side. You should find it, or what's left of it glued on the top of the gas tank. BUT.....if it's there, DON'T try to pull it off. Drop the gas tank to remove it. If you try to pull it off, it will rip---tear---crumble to pieces as you try to pull it off. It's a fairly big piece of paper....about 6 x 9 inches. Chuck

In addation to the tank sticker, You might find the shipping sticker under the rear carpet. Thats where I found it on my '76. The shipping sticker will tell you what dealer received your Vette when it was shipped from SL. The tank sticker on the gas tank was not readable.

Fred, I could tell mine was there from looking at both places mentioned above. I also had mine removed. It didn't come off in one piece but I taped it back together as best I could and vacum sealed it in a food saver bag to try to preserve it. I could still read most of the options and I think it was worth the $400 or so it cost me to get it off. I now know more about my car than I did and that is a good thing!
